Mission Statement

The mission of the ASC is:
  • to empower students to become independent successful learners by introducing them to proven study strategies
  • to assist students with understanding subject material and writing basics

Services

All services are open and free to currently enrolled OCC students. Services include:
  • Computer Services
    • Skill improvement tutorials, i.e. SpeedReader, keyboarding
    • Course specific tutoring, i.e. Accounting, English as a Second Language (ESL)
    • MS Word, Excel, Access, Power Point
    • Study-skill websites
  • Student Success Seminars
  • Tutoring
  • Study Groups
  • College Success Skills Course (ASC 1070)
  • Testing (Placement and Make-Up Tests)

Policies

  • Sign-in at the computer inside the door for each visit
  • Turn off cellular phones and beepers
  • In consideration of others, children are not permitted
  • Internet usage is restricted to BlackBoard users and specific coursework
  • E-mail access is available in the library, but not in the ASC
