Since the assessment of student learning is an on-going process, it is
important to establish an implementation timeline which allows time for teaching
and learning to occur. An implementation timeline refers to the process of
identifying a date for reporting assessment data on a learning outcome. An
assessment date includes the first day of a preselected month and a
predetermined year. Additionally, a frequency is noted for each learning
outcome-benchmark to indicate how often the assessment will take place. Even
though program assessment is done annually, the frequency for assessing a given
learning outcome-benchmark can range from a one-year-cycle to a four-year-cycle.
Examples of an implementation timeline include:
- October 1, 2011 Annually
- May 1, 2010 Bi-annually
