SLA Project Mission and Goals

The Student Learning Academy’s over arching mission is aligned with that of the HLC Assessment Academy philosophy. Specifically, we seek to achieve broader "Institution-wide commitment and Engagement with Student Learning."

Within the broad context of this mission our Student Learning Project consists of two major Goals. These Goals concern critical aspects of the college’s culture and operating procedures which must be addressed if we are ultimately to succeed in this initiative. The Goals are highly inter-related and inter-dependent, while at the same time representing a unique aspect of the college environment. The two Goals include:

  • Create a college climate that places high value on the assessment of student learning.
  • Create an integrated system which supports the routine collecting, sharing and applying of student learning data across the college.

Each Goal is further defined by a comprehensive detailed series of objectives, action plans and tasks that constitute the Student learning Academy’s work over the next four years.
