The Business Technology Center at Orchard Ridge is offering computer training seminars in a small classroom setting of twelve students or less. Choose from the following areas: word processing with Microsoft Word 2007, spreadsheets with MS Excel 2007, databases with MS Access 2007, and presentation graphics programs with MS PowerPoint 2007. This training is for individuals and business people who wish to gain knowledge and possibly MOS certification in the newest software.

The Business Technology Center offers MCSE training at the Orchard Ridge Campus. OCC is a Microsoft IT Academy. Classroom size is small at 14 students or less to ensure excellent student/teacher interaction. MCSEs plan, implement, and maintain both local and wide area computer networks. This highly technical certification is in huge demand as the need for systems engineers is tremendous and the opportunities and challenges have never been greater. To become an MCSE, Microsoft requires that students pass 7 exams that will provide a valid and reliable measure of their proficiency.

Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), will give students a second certification. This credential proves that you have the skills to successfully implement, manage, and troubleshoot the ongoing needs of Microsoft Windows 2003-based operating environments.

Money Magazine recently named financial planning as one of the 10 best careers in America, based on salary. The Business Technology Center is offering training for the CFP® Certification for professionals who wish to become certified. Financial planners are in demand as more and more Americans are looking for assistance in managing their personal financial resources. We are licensed through the College for Financial Planning. We offer the five required courses that will prepare you to take the CFP® Certification Exam. The program consists of 5 classes, and these classes are offered each semester. There is a new pricing structure--each class is $725 this includes curriculum and new onsite testing for each individual class. (If you were previously enrolled with the College for Financial Planning, your fee will be different. Call Sue Adams for further information.) Your instructors may also require textbooks--these would be an additional fee. Your final cumulative exam would also be additional.

Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. owns the certification marks CFP®, Certified Financial Planner™ and CFP (with flame logo)® which it awards to individuals who successfully complete initial and ongoing certification requirements.

Oakland Community College does not certify individuals to use the CFP® Certified Financial Planner™ and CFP (with flame logo)® marks. CFP certification is granted solely by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards to individuals who, in addition to completing an educational requirement such as this CFP Board Registered Program, have met ethics, experience and examination requirements.

The Condominium Operation program is a must for all persons who are either interested in serving on a board of directors of a condominium, co-op or homeowners association, or who are presently serving on these boards, including developers. This course is taught by a nationally-known specialist in condominium law who advises numerous condominium associations and developers and helped to draft the 1978 Michigan Condominium Act.
