If a career serving and protecting your community sounds like

criminal justice and public service programs offered at Oakland
Community College:
Security Transfer Program
Provides students with the background needed to transfer into a
four-year degree program. You’ll take courses in the criminal
justice system, criminal law, legal procedures and social
values, as well as electives in specialty areas such as criminal
evidence, corrections, juvenile procedures and substance abuse
investigation. The options are nearly endless and can start you
on a career working for local, county, state or federal
agencies; in private or corporate security; or with the FBI, DEA
(Drug Enforcement Agency) or ATF (Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms)
Corrections – one-year certificate and
two-year degree programs help prepare students for careers as
probation, parole or corrections officers
Law Enforcement
One-year certificate and two-year degree programs provide
background and knowledge of procedures needed for work in police
administration and law enforcement Police Evidence Technology
One-year certificate or two-year degree programs familiarize
students with crime scene methods; techniques for collecting,
preserving and handling physical evidence; and will provide
students with the opportunity to participate in basic laboratory
examinations of simulated crime evidence OCC Police Academy
OCC’s Academy, one of 21 in the state – provides classroom
learning of the law and crime, physical training, specialized
driving instruction and firearms. Graduates are qualified to
become officers in city, county and state police departments
Fire Fighting Technology and
Fire Academy
Students can choose a one-year certificate or two-year degree
program in fire fighting technology. The OCC Fire Academy
provides basic through advanced training for hundreds of public
services personnel each year.
Emergency Medical Technology (EMT)
Complete an extended associate degree program (73 credits) in
EMT. Current EMTs can attend OCC to
receive basic, intermediate and advanced paramedic training and
credentials.
Emergency Services Technology
A two-year degree program that combines elements of OCC’s Law
Enforcement, Fire Sciences and EMT programs for individuals
interested in careers in emergency preparedness. |
