Advanced Oral Communication

Prerequisite: ESL 1021 or appropriate MTELP scores.

This course enhances speaking and cross-cultural communication skills through active participation in group projects, presentations, and extemporaneous oral activities focusing on academic concerns. Students will refine their pronunciation through work on vowels, consonants, and complex suprasegmentals. Vocabulary focus is completely academic, including advanced work with word forms, synonyms/antonyms, and active/passive vocabulary. This course will explore in-depth the following general education attribute: to think critically and creatively when working on projects, presentations, and extemporaneous oral activities.
