Conference Focus:
This has been a very difficult transitional year for the Automotive Industry. It has proven particularly difficult for our State and Southeastern Michigan with numerous plant closings and design and engineering cutbacks. Kristin Dziczek, Director of the Labor and Industry Group within the Center for Automotive Research, and Richard Waclawek, Director of the Michigan DELEG Bureau of Labor Market Information and Strategic Initiatives, have agreed to provide a very timely automotive industry update. Since Hybrid Engineering and Battery Technology are keys to the resurgence of Southeast Michigan and the domestic automotive industry, an expert panel will provide a better understanding of these technologies, and their implications for automotive engineering, grid infrastructure, skill requirements and eventual employment. Finally, a team representing education and industry will suggest implications for curriculum development.
