EMT-Basic
In the Summer I semester, an EMT Academy runs for five weeks beginning just after the OCC Fire Academy. This program is accelerated and meets Monday through Friday from 9:00am-5:00pm, followed by three weeks of clinical shifts. Required courses are listed as follows and are recommended to be taken concurrently. Students must be accepted into the program and attend an orientation prior to registration. Part time academic schedules must be approved by the Program Director. Upon completion of the Basic EMT courses, the student will be eligible to take the national Registry exam to qualify for state licensing as a EMT-Basic.
The length of the program for students who plan on going on to paramedic courses is dependent upon when they they start their Basic EMT Program.
