General Description/Summary of Purpose:
Coordinate the selection, implementation and maintenance of library electronic resources and services for the College community. Work with library faculty and with relevant college personnel to enhance and maintain the library website. Reports to the Dean of Libraries.Duties/Illustrative Tasks:
This description is intended to indicate the types of duties and responsibilities requested of the employee assigned this title. It is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all the duties and responsibilities that may be required.1. Work with library faculty to investigate and evaluate library electronic resources and services for on-campus and remote users.
2. Work with Information Technologies (IT), and external library technical support (Michigan Library Consortium, Detroit Area Library Network, etc.) to implement and maintain library electronic resources and services.
3. Maintain current knowledge of emerging library technologies for delivering library resources and services. Remain current on updates and enhancements to current electronic library resources and services.
4. Work with the Dean of Libraries and IT to review and evaluate licensing agreements for library electronic resources and services. Recommend policies and procedures to ensure compliance with licensing agreements.
5. Work with external library technical support and IT to resolve problems with library electronic resources and services.
6. Work with the Professional Development and Training Center (PDTC) and external library organizations to bring educational opportunities to library faculty on electronic library resources and services. Develop training materials and conduct workshops.
7. Work with library faculty to develop user documentation and materials to publicize library electronic resources and services.
8. Generate and compile usage reports for library electronic resources and services, and the library website.
9. Work with library faculty and other relevant College personnel to maintain, evaluate, and enhance the Libraries website, ensuring that format and content comply with College standards.
10. Serve on campus and college-wide committees; participate in the development of college initiatives; assist in the formation of policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
EDUCATION: Master’s in Library and Information Science (MLIS) or equivalent degree from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited program.AND
EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years library experience with applying current and emerging web and Web 2.0 technologies in libraries. Experience managing electronic library resources and services. Experience with multi-cultural students and staff preferred.
