General Description/Summary of Purpose:

Perform paraprofessional duties in support of one or more instructional disciplines. The typical duties for all paraprofessionals are listed below. The employee is expected to work in a multi-cultural diverse working environment. Also noted are additional duties specific to particular disciplines

Duties/Illustrative Tasks:

1. Set-up, clean and demonstrate use of equipment and instruments. Maintain and perform minor repairs on equipment and instruments.
2. Maintain inventories, orders supplies in accordance with college purchasing procedures, prepare maintenance work orders, and arrange for outside repairs of equipment and instruments as necessary.
3. Monitor safety and security of work area, equipment, supplies and materials. Maintain cleanliness of work area, and ensure conformity to MIOSHA directives.
4. Assist faculty in work area as requested.
5. Assist students in labs regarding basic questions in subject matter, equipment, procedures, etc.
6. Issue and check-in instruments, teaching aids, supplies, equipment and materials.
7. Perform necessary clerical duties and functions.
8. Train and direct college student personnel with appropriate approval.
9. Perform related tasks as assigned.

Technical (automotive, electronics, Computed Aided Design, environmental systems, machine tool shop and robotics and welding)
1. Travel off-campus to obtain supplies and materials; deliver and pick-up equipment and instruments to be repaired.
2. Prepare and set up for experiments and demonstrations.
3. Assist, as needed, in loading software on computers in the electronics and computer aided design labs.

Minimum Qualifications:

• An earned Associate Degree or higher in the discipline which the position supports;
-or-
Any Associate Degree or higher and 16 college credit hours in the discipline the position supports
AND
• Successful completion of the Clerical Skills Battery (Language Arts, Math and Microsoft Office – Word and Excel)
• A valid Michigan driver's license
