General Description/Summary of Purpose:
Perform clerical, bookkeeping, and accounting duties in order to accomplish the functions of the Financial Services and/or Financial Assistance & Scholarship Departments. The employee is expected to work in a multi-cultural diverse working environment.Note: Specific duties in the Typical Duties may apply to a department or location.
Duties/Illustrative Tasks:
1. Assist students with questions and forms, as needed. Maintain student records for financial aid requirements; prepares required statements.2. Assist in the interpretation of federal financial aid regulations and applies to those in assigning students to collectors, negotiates repayment plans with delinquent accounts, and prepares state and federal reports.
3. Act as liaison representative with collectors, billing agents and federal and state staff personnel in financial aid.
4. Assist in the coordination of the general ledger budget for financial aid with the individual student budgets.
5. Attend Financial Aid related meetings.
6. Work with the Director of Financial Aid and Financial Aid Officers in routine matters dealing with financial aid and scholarship accounts.
7. Reconcile most federal/state grants and scholarships.
8. Interpret computer reports and prepare journal entries.
9. Utilize collegewide computer system to enter data and process reports.
10. Assist veteran students and maintain veteran records, if applicable.
11. Order supplies and equipment with appropriate approval.
12. Operate office equipment, e.g. photocopier, calculator, telephone, computer and any other equipment utilized by the college. Maintain, clean and arrange for service of equipment when necessary.
13. Train and direct college student personnel with appropriate approval.
14. Perform related tasks as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
• An earned Associate Degree or higher in Accounting, Business Administration, Business Information Systems, or Computer Information Systems-or-
Any Associate Degree or higher with 16 college credit hours in Accounting, Business Administration, Business Information Systems, or Computer Information Systems
AND
• Successful completion of Clerical Skills Battery (Language Arts, Math and Microsoft Office – Word and Excel)
• Computer keyboard proficiency: 35wpm
Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:
Two years customer service experience.Notes:
