Mariachi Especial, “Alma De Mexico” (Soul of Mexico), is one of the most sought after performing groups of its kind. They have been featured
at numerous colleges and universities and have entertained countless audiences with their skill and precision on the vihuela, guitarra de golpe,
guitarron, violin, and trumpet. Their costumes, music, and song capture the essence of Mexico and create an unforgettable experience for young

Saxophonist Marion Meadows brings a smooth and soulful blend of jazz influenced by R&B, Latin, Hip-Hop and Funk. He began playing clarinet and
studying classical music at eight years old. His passion for different types of music led him to appreciate jazz musicians, including Stanley
Turrentine, Sidney Bichet, Johnny Hodges, Duke Ellington and Coleman Hawkins He naturally gravitated to the soprano sax in his high school years.

A two-day celebration of performance and writing.
Students may attend all or part of the Festival. Individual 2-4 minute thematically related performances are encouraged. Upon registering, please
indicate if you plan to share a solo performance. The festival includes lectures, workshops, group and solo performances. The Festival is a
unique opportunity to learn about performance, literature, language, culture and other elements of communication in a non-competitive, supportive
environment. On Friday trip to the Holocaust Museum is planned. On Saturday there is a lunch. For a schedule and synopsis of the 2007 Festival,

22 - Marcus Belgrave - Tribute To Louis Armstrong and Marcus, Charlie & Joan's "New Orleans Jazz Celebration

Marcus Belgrave, Charlie Gabriel, Joan Bow and a five piece band perform New Orleans jazz, Dixieland, swing and classic song standards. Charlie
(on clarinet and vocals) brings a direct connection to pure New Orleans style, while Marcus adds trumpet stylings with a lyricism and inventiveness
rarely heard in “Dixieland” jazz. Vocalist Joan Bow captures the spirit of the many singers that Louis Armstrong worked with, such as Ella Fitzgerald,
Dinah Washington and Billie Holiday. The interaction in their entertaining vocalizing and warm stage presence guarantees a show that delivers
