Scoring

  • Scoring of essays will be based on the college’s writing, critical thinking and aesthetic awareness evaluation rubrics.
  • A minimum of 59 out of 70 possible points must be obtained based on these rubrics in order to qualify for one of the top three awards.
  • These are college wide rubrics that will be used by the Evaluation Committee to assess papers for the competition; however, faculty expectation for course work may vary.
  • At the time of submission, students may request feedback on their essay by the Evaluation Committee.
