The Greater Oakland Charter Chapter of the American Business Women's Association (ABWA) is funding two special scholarships through the Stephen Bufton Memorial Education Fund (SBMEF). One scholarship will be awarded in the amount of $1,000 and one in the amount of $2,000.
Eligibility:
- Women who are citizens of the United States and residents of Oakland County, Michigan.
- Women who will be college freshman, sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate level in August 2010.
- Women who are attending or have been accepted at an accredited college or university authorized to confer degrees at least at the baccalaureate level.
- Women who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale.
The application will be completed online and requires:
- A biographical sketch
- Three (3) professional letters of reference
- An official transcript

The Adult Students in Scholastic Transition (ASIST) Scholarship is a non-discriminatory educational scholarship program for the benefit of non-traditional students. The ASIST Scholarship Program helps provide financial support to adult students in a variety of transitional situations.
Selection criteria include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Financial need
- Socially, physically, and economically challenged adults
- Responsible for small children

- Clearly defined career goals and objectives

Award Amount: up to $1,200 per year
The purpose of this scholarship is to recognize the outstanding members of the PTK Honor Society at Michigan community colleges.
Eligibility:
- Must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
- Must be a member of PHI THETA KAPPA Honor Society.
- Priority will be given to students earning an Associates Degree at the community college.
- Students must be admitted to Grand Valley State University as a new student for Fall 2010 and enrolled as a full-time student.
Application Procedure: Students must:
- Have an application for admission on file by March 15, 2010.
- Have a PTK application on file no later than March 15, 2010.
- Submit a letter of application indicating educational and career goals.
- Send a letter of recommendation from a community college faculty member who can speak about your academic ability and leadership skills.
- Interview with the PTK scholarship committee consisting of the Associate Director of Financial Aid and the Associate Director of Admissions.
Selection: Recipients will be chosen and notified on or about April 30.

The Grand Rapids Community Foundation administers a scholarship program funded by Warner Norcross & Judd LLP aimed at increasing diversity in all areas of the legal profession. Scholarships for minority students will be awarded to students of racial and ethnic minority heritage pursuing a law degree, paralegal studies, and legal secretarial studies (one award in each category). The law school scholarship is not limited to schools in Michigan; however, the applicant must be a current or former resident of Michigan if they are not currently attending a school in Michigan. The paralegal and legal secretarial scholarships are limited to Michigan residents only.
