Electronic Student Loan Applications

Oakland Community College (OCC) has moved to a new electronic loan application process for Federal Stafford Loans (FSL).

Prior to starting the online loan process, you must complete the FREE Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), using one of the following school codes (select the campus where your financial aid will be located) and provide any other documentation requested by the OCC Office of Financial Assistance & Scholarships (OFAS).

Auburn Hills 002304 Orchard Ridge 002306
Highland Lakes 002305 Royal Oak/Southfield 010442

You will need an email address to complete this process. Free emails are available at www.hotmail.com or www.yahoomail.com.

To access the loan request process, please visit http://www.oaklandcc.edu/finaid/LoanApplications.htm  and select “Student Loans” located in the left column.

New borrowers and returning borrowers at OCC who took out loans before September 1, 2004, will need their driver’s license (if applicable), and two references, including complete addresses and phone numbers, to complete the steps below:

Step 1 - Entrance Counseling
Step 2 - Campus Selection
Step 3 - Lender Selection
Step 4 - Oakland Community College Loan Request Form
Step 5 - Electronically sign the Master Promissory Note (MPN)

Returning borrowers who took out loans after September 1, 2004, will complete the steps below:

Step 1 - Campus Selection
Step 2 – Oakland Community College Loan Request Form
Step 3 – Exit Loan Counseling

The new electronic loan process will take approximately 45 to 60 minutes to complete. You must complete the ENTIRE process once you start. You do not have the option to “start, save, and stop.” You must complete it without interruption. If you have to interrupt, you will need to start again at the beginning.

For questions or more information regarding the entrance counseling, electronic signature process or the FAFSA, please contact Nelnet’s College Planning Center on 1-866-866-7372.
