Basic Training

The Oakland Fire Training Institute offers full-time and part-time Fire Fighter I & II training programs.  These programs are designed to place well trained firefighter recruits into the fire suppression field.

All requirements of the Michigan Office of Fire Fighter Training will be met and exceeded for Fire Fighter I & II training programs.

The Office of Fire Fighter Training is the regulating agency for the State of Michigan under the Bureau of Construction Codes & Fire Safety and oversees the written and practical examinations that are conducted at the end of each program.  Upon receiving a passing examination score, the trainee will be awarded a Fire Fighter I & II document of completion.  Certification, as awarded by the Michigan Fire Fighters Training Council, is received after the trainee becomes a member of an organized fire department.

The Oakland Fire Training Institute offers both full and part time programs to accommodate the needs of recruits.  Please click on either link for a description and more information regarding each program such as dates, times and days.
