HOW DO I GET INTO CLASSES?

REGISTRATION
Getting into and paying for classes is easy. The process is called registration. Registration for classes normally starts about two months prior to the beginning of the semester and can be accomplished on the college web site (Web Registration), by touch tone telephone (Touch*Tone Registration) or by coming to a campus just prior to the start of classes. The dates for registration can be found in the academic calendar on the right.

ASSESSMENT/PLACEMENT
Prior to registering for classes the college requires that you take English and math assessment and placement tests. These tests make sure that you are placed in the English, math and other courses where you have the greatest opportunity to succeed. Check out the link on the right to get some vital information on length of the exam, testing location and if you can get an exemption from the tests as well as other valuable stuff.

CLASS SCHEDULE
A complete list of all of the classes that are offered at the college can be found in the schedule of classes. The schedule of classes is published three times per year prior to the beginning of the Fall, Winter and Summer 1 & 2 semesters. The schedule is available electronically on the college web site or in printed form on the campus.

The electronic version of the schedule is available to students by clicking on ‘online services’ on the college home page and then selecting ‘search for classes’ in the right column. In the upper right hand corner of the ‘online services’ screen you will find a link to the registration tutorial. This tutorial explains how to search and register and/or search for classes on the web.

You should read through the tutorial before you try to register. Check out the other Online Services available to students. Besides being able to register for classes you can also:

  • Get your grades
  • Print an unofficial list of all of the courses you’ve taken along with your grades (a transcript)
  • Order your textbooks prior to the beginning of the semester
  • Drop or add classes after the semester has started
  • Pay for the classes electronically, called e-commerce
  • Get a financial summary of charges and payments to the college

A tutorial for Touch*Tone Registration can be found in the front of the hard copy version of the schedule.

QUESTION
In order to register for classes using Online Services you need a user name. What is the format for a user name?

Hint: you may want to go to the tutorial for on line services.
