Rohan Krishnamurthy Acclaimed a “percussion prodigy” and “virtuoso” by distinguished music critics and musicians, Rohan
Krishnamurthy has carved an exciting musical niche on the South Indian Classical drum, the mridangam. Having initially received mridangam
training one-on-one and later over a novel telephonic setup in the US from Damodaran Srinivasan, Rohan now continues advanced study from the
India-based maestro Guruvayur Dorai. Rohan has performed extensively in North America and India since the age of nine with leading Indian
musicians, and has been invited to perform for nine consecutive years during the celebrated December Music Season in Chennai, India. He
has collaborated in numerous cross-musical ventures with well-known symphony orchestras, jazz ensembles, etc., including a recent weeklong community
outreach performance of “Echoes,” a creative concerto for mridangam and string orchestra, with the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra during their
“Youth Concerts” for over 13,000 elementary schoolchildren in Southwest Michigan.
