Respiratory Therapy Patient
Respiratory Therapy, also known as Respiratory Care, is a health profession specialty that deals with care of patients with respiratory diseases. Respiratory therapists work with people with cardiopulmonary (heart and lung) problems and are primarily involved in prevention, diagnosis, treatment, management, and rehabilitation.

The Respiratory Therapy Program at Oakland Community College offers three completion options.
  1. Traditional or one-year program is for students who have completed all prerequisite classes.
  2. Integrated or two-year program is for students who still have prerequisites to complete and who may need to work while completing the program.
  3. Advanced standing is designed for individuals with health care experience (credit may be given for some clinical experience following evaluation and testing).
