APA Citation of Internet
Sources: OCC Examples
| APA Handbook |
The current recommendations for citation of
online sources are explained in the 5th edition (2001) of Publication
Manual of the American Psychological Association available in OCC
libraries. Rules paraphrased below have been taken from pages 268-281,
Chapter 4, sub-heading Electronic Media, and are herewith cited by item
number and page.
APA requires a list
of References rather than a Bibliography. The list must be alphabetized
and must come from citations within the text. |

How These
Examples Work |
Below are APA-style
rules for online sources followed by examples of citations. The example
sources used here are ProQuest and Infotrac, with other databases, for
reason that they are among those more commonly encountered by OCC students
doing research for classes.
Please note that the completed list of References must be
double-spaced, and entries should have a hanging indent (p. 216). Examples
below are presented single-spaced for conservation of screen space only. |
