GOVERNMENT DOCUMENTS  Federal Depository Logo   at ORCHARD RIDGE

The King Library on the Orchard Ridge Campus of Oakland Community College is a selective depository for United States Government Documents. OCC selects 23% of all documents distributed through the U.S. depository system. These publications cover many subjects and include statistical data, congressional hearings, agency reports, maps, budget information, country studies, and pamphlets on popular issues. King Library is also a depository for State of Michigan documents. Please ask at the Reference Desk for assistance in locating documents.

Print Documents

Many can be found as part of the reference stacks or the circulating stacks. To find them, search in the Library Catalog, using the same methods as searches for other library materials.  You may also select the "Government Documents" format as a limit in the Library Catalog's Power Search mode.  Government Documents stacks on the south side of the library are the site of another large group of print documents.  Arranged in Superintendent of Documents (SuDoc) classification, the recent documents can be located in the Library Catalog.  However, if a document with a SuDoc call number is located by searching in Catalog of U.S. Government Publications or in the catalog of another library--such as Wayne State University or Library of Michigan--it often can be found also in the OCC Government Documents stacks. Documents from this section are available for circulation.  Ask a Librarian for assistance. Microfiche Documents

A collection of Government Documents on microfiche is filed by SuDoc number and stored in microfiche cabinets near the Government Documents stacks on the south side of the library. The library has microfiche reader-printers in the periodicals section for public use. CD-ROM

A selection of government document databases on CD-ROM is available for use in the library on a computer near the Reference Desk. These include the National Trade Data Bank, the U.S. Code, and Tax Forms, among others. Many are available for circulation. Maps

A selection of U.S. Geological Survey and other maps are stored in map cabinets in the Reference section. Internet

The Internet and the World Wide Web are rich sources of U.S. and other levels of governmental information.
See the listed above.
