about people’s differences. We never know what life experiences a person has encountered; therefore, we should treat everyone with dignity and respect.

This podcast is an interview with a student who works and studies at the Orchard Ridge campus of Oakland Community College. She
came to the United States from Senegal (Dakar), West Africa, three years ago to study Business Administration at OCC. She plans to specialize in
finance when she transfers to Oakland University to pursue her bachelor’s degree. Through this podcast, she shares her views on polygamy, the political
system and religion, as well as her family values. It is our intention through this podcast to help people become more aware and compassionate about
people’s differences. We never know what life experiences a person has encountered; therefore, we should treat everyone with dignity and respect.
It is our hope that after listening to this interview, students will be inspired to reach out to others in their classes.

Sana Hafeez is an alumna of Oakland Community College and has recently graduated from the University of Michigan. She currently
tutors students in all chemistry and biology classes offered at Oakland Community College. Her family waited almost 11 years before being given
permission to immigrate to the United States in 1999. In this podcast she candidly discusses her experience living in two cultures, her faith after
the events of September 11, and her family’s adjustment to life in the United States.
