Aesthetic Awareness

OCC Learning Outcome Statement:

Graduates will have an appreciation of the humanities/arts, and the role of aesthetic experiences in daily life.

The faculty of Oakland Community College have defined three relevant dimensions of the Aesthetic Awareness General Education outcome to clarify learning expectations for our students. They include:
  1. Form aesthetic judgments
  2. Understand and evaluates how aesthetic expression challenges one’s view and leads to an appreciation of commonality and diversity.
  3. Recognize aesthetic expression as a stimulus for intellectual and emotional interpretation
Student knowledge and skill can be assessed by utilizing the Aesthetic Awareness Evaluation Rubric established by OCC faculty. View rubric [PDF]
