Communicate Effectively - Writing

OCC Learning Outcome Statement:

Graduates can demonstrate and apply skills for effective written and oral (including non-verbal) communication.



The faculty of Oakland Community College have defined six distinct dimensions for the Communicate Effectively - Writing General Education outcome. They include:
  1.  Demonstrated understanding of audience, purpose, and assigned task evident and illustrated by effective focus and thesis.
  2.  Content Effectively Developed.
  3.  Whole Piece Clearly Organized.
  4.  Proofreading for Grammar, Mechanics, Usage.
  5.  Style and Presentation.
  6.  Incorporation of Source Material (when use of sources assigned or writer chooses to support with material from outside personal experience).
