Condominium Operation: Introduction to the Essentials for Success

This course is a must for all persons who are either interested in serving on a board of directors of a condominium, co-op or homeowners' association, or who are presently serving on these boards, including developers.

Matters to be discussed will include: the legal and fiduciary responsibilities of directors and officers; how the statutes in the state of Michigan affect officers and directors of a condominium and other homeowners' associations; enforcement of restrictions and bylaws by the community association; how amendments to condominium documents will enhance the condominium association including a discussion of recent changes in the laws and the FCC Satellite rule; potential liability incurred by directors and officers and preventative measures that should be practiced; collection of assessments in community associations; and parliamentary procedures and the four essential audits.

Instructor: Robert M. Meisner, attorney and counselor, is a nationally known specialist in Condominium and Community Association Law, and has practiced law in the State of Michigan for over 30 years. He is an advisor for numerous condominium associations and developers, and he co-drafted the 1978 Michigan Condominium Act. He is the first attorney in Michigan to be inducted into the Community Association Institute's College of Community Association Lawyers. He has taught courses at MSU, OU and OCC for nearly 20 years.
