Specialist/Paramedic
Re-test Fact Sheet
If
you fail 5 or less Paramedic skills, or 2 or less Specialist skills on the
practical exam, you are eligible to re-test only those skills 2 more times
before it is considered to be a "fail" of the practical exam.
Due to time limitations, same-day re-tests usually cannot be
conducted. To reschedule,
submit a reservation form, fee, and National Registry results letter.
If
you fail more than 5 Paramedic skills, or more than 2 Specialist skills,
you have failed your first attempt at the practical exam. You are required to receive remedial training on all
practical skills, documented by a licensed I/C, before re-attempting the
entire practical exam. Proof
of this remediation must be submitted with reservation form and fee to
re-test.
If
you fail the practical - the Regional Coordinator will tell you if you
need a partial re-test or full re-test and will give you a reservation
form and list of exam dates. Submit
the reservation form with the practical exam fee and copy of NR results
letter to re-schedule.
If
you pass the practical and fail the written - submit new NR application
form and NR fee. NR
application must have physician signature (You do not need to re-submit
proof of course completion, Basic EMT license, or verification of EMT
skills).
If
you fail the written and practical - submit a new NR application,
reservation form, and written and practical fees.
The NR application must have physician signature and
verification of EMT skills. (Proof
of course completion and Basic EMT license do not need to be
re-submitted.)
If
you are a "no-show" at the exam for which you are scheduled -
you will forfeit your exam administration fee (unless you cancel at least
10 days before). Your NR
application and NR fee will be returned to you by NREMT.
Re-submit them to SWM with a new reservation form and
administration fee when you wish to re-schedule.
If
you fail the written exam 3 times - you must submit proof of completing a
36-hour approved refresher course (Specialist)/48-hour approved refresher
course (Paramedic), or equivalent approved CE credits, in order to retest.
