Scholarship Name: Arab American Women's Business Council (AAWBC) Scholarship

 

General Criteria

Application requirements:  All of the following documents must be postmarked and mailed before the deadline (November 21, 2008) for scholarship consideration.  Please note that it is your responsibility to send the complete documentation required by the deadline indicated above.

Scholarship Name: Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship Program

Award amount:  up to $30,000

The Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship Program provides funding for tuition, room and board, required fees, and books for the remainder of the Scholar's undergraduate degree.  Scholarship amounts vary based on several factors, including costs at the institution each recipient attends and other grants and scholarships the student receives.  Awards can be for as much as $30,000 annually.

Scholarship Name: Harding Scholarship

 

The purpose of this scholarship is to attract the nation's most capable students to Methodist Theological School in Ohio (MTSO) for full-time theological study in one of four Master's degree programs.  It is awarded through a national competition.  The winning student receives full tuition plus an annual $10,000 stipend.  All finalists are required to visit the campus on designated dates to determine the winner.

Scholarship Name: NALS of Michigan Scholarship Fund

Award Amount:  $1,000

NALS of Michigan Scholarship Fund shall present one $1,000 nonrenewable tuition/books-only scholarship to a recipient enrolled in a school of advanced education in the legal field.  This scholarship will be awarded on the basis of scholastic or legal career achievements, future career goals, demonstration of financial need, and leadership ability.  The scholarship award may be granted to any qualified applicant in the legal field.

Scholarship Name: Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) Scholarship

Award Amount:  (see below)

RIT awards over $5 million in merit-based and need-based scholarships to new and continuing transfer students each year.  RIT offers three merit-based scholarship programs for transfer students in addition to $5 million in need-based aid.

Trustee Scholarships*

RIT will award Trustee Scholarships valued at $7,500 and $9,000 per academic year to transfer students entering RIT in 2008-2009 who meet the following qualifications:

Transfer Achievement Scholarships*

RIT will award Achievement Scholarships to transfer students with a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher, as computed by RIT, who have completed over 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours at previous institutions.  Scholarships are valued at $6,000 per academic year for qualified candidates (may not be combined with Trustee Scholarship).

*In order to be considered for either the Trustee or Transfer Achievement Scholarship, students must apply for admission and provide all required admissions credentials by the following deadlines:

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarships

RIT will award Phi Theta Kappa scholarships valued at $2,000 per year to every PTK member who completes an associate degree prior to enrolling at RIT.  Scholarships are renewable with a cumulative GPA or 2.8 or higher.  In order to qualify for the PTK scholarship, proof of membership must be submitted prior to acceptance.

Minority Transfer Scholarships

RIT will award scholarships to African-American, Hispanic, and Native American transfer students based on academic qualifications, leadership potential, and demonstrated financial need.  Scholarships are valued at $3,000 per academic year for qualified candidates.  Admissions applications must be complete by April 1, 2008 for consideration.

RIT hosts two Transfer Days, scheduled for Friday, January 11, 2008 and Friday, March 14, 2008.  These programs are intended to provide students with the opportunity to visit RIT departments and meet with faculty, Admissions, Cooperative Education and Placement, Financial Aid, Housing, and current RIT students.

Scholarship Name: Sallie Mae Fund Scholarship Programs 2008-2009

Scholarship Name: Soroptimist International of Oakland County

Award Amount:  $500 and $1,000

Soroptimist is an international volunteer service organization for business and professional women who work to improve the lives of women and girls, in local communities and throughout the world.  The Women's Opportunity Awards program is the organization's major service project.  The Soroptimist Women's Opportunity Awards give women the resources they need to improve their education, skills, and employment prospects.  Eligible applicants must be women who provide the primary financial support for their families, and who are enrolled in or have been accepted to a vocational/skills training program or an undergraduate degree program.

 

Eligibility requirements:  To be eligible for the Women's Opportunity Award, you must:

Previous Women's Opportunity Award recipients are ineligible to apply.  Women who already have an undergraduate degree are ineligible to apply.  Soroptimists, employees of Soroptimist, and the immediate families of both are ineligible to apply.
