The American Welding Society (AWS) Foundation District Scholarship Program provides funding for students seeking an undergraduate degree in welding engineering, welding technology, or a welding-related field, as specified in each scholarship. Each scholarship has specific requirements related to qualification.

Applicants must be of Arab descent.

High school senior and undergraduate students must have at least a 3.0 GPA. Graduate student applicants must have at least a 3.5 GPA.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, and reside in the state of Michigan.

Scholarship recipients will be required to volunteer for six (6) hours of community service to support any AAWBC annual activities (activities to be announced).
Application requirements: All of the following documents must be postmarked and mailed before the deadline (November 21, 2008) for scholarship consideration. Please note that it is your responsibility to send the complete documentation required by the deadline indicated above.

Completed, signed application form: complete and submit the application ONLINE. In addition, print the ONLINE form, sign it, and mail it with the other documents; please answer all questions.

Official copies of academic transcripts: previous colleges for new transfer students. If you are a graduate student, please send your undergraduate and graduate transcripts.

Two letters of recommendation: these should be from faculty members familiar with the student's character and academic performance. Letters should be dated later than January of the current year, and must be on letterhead of the institution.

Copy of your current Student Aid Report (SAR): Please send a copy of all pages of the report, and the copy MUST include the EFC (expected family contribution) number. The EFC number is an essential part of the scholarship selection process. To obtain the SAR with the EFC, you must submit your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to the U.S. Department of Education. You can submit your application online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Submit your FAFSA as soon as possible so that you can receive your SAR in time to meet the deadline.

A 500-word essay: describe how you can contribute to the well-being of your community after you complete your education. You must sign your essay and submit it with your application.

The Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship Program provides funding for tuition, room and board, required fees, and books for the remainder of the Scholar's undergraduate degree. Scholarship amounts vary based on several factors, including costs at the institution each recipient attends and other grants and scholarships the student receives. Awards can be for as much as $30,000 annually.
Minimum eligibility: To be eligible to compete for the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship, a candidate must:
- Be a current student at an accredited U.S. community college or two-year institution with sophomore status, OR a recent graduate (within the last five years),
- Have a cumulative college grade point average of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale (or the equivalent),
- Plan to transfer to a four-year college or university to begin studies in the coming fall, and
- Be nominated by his or her two-year institution.

The purpose of the scholarship is to provide an education stipend to residents of Michigan for successful completion of labor studies classes as an accredited Michigan college, community college, or the George Meany Center for Labor Studies.
Applicants must:

Be in good standing when they apply and continue to be in good standing and meet all academic standards while receiving a scholarship.

Be sponsored by a member in good standing of a labor organization, and officer of a labor organization, or a member of the Dewan family;

The purpose of this scholarship is to attract the nation's most capable students to Methodist Theological School in Ohio (MTSO) for full-time theological study in one of four Master's degree programs. It is awarded through a national competition. The winning student receives full tuition plus an annual $10,000 stipend. All finalists are required to visit the campus on designated dates to determine the winner.

The purpose of The Hungarian Arts Club is to promote and foster artistic talent in students of Hungarian descent in the visual or performing arts.
Conditions of eligibility:
- Must be of Hungarian descent.

- Must submit a portfolio (which will be returned) showing the work you wish to submit to the club to be judged.

Award Amount: $1,000
NALS of Michigan Scholarship Fund shall present one $1,000 nonrenewable tuition/books-only scholarship to a recipient enrolled in a school of advanced education in the legal field. This scholarship will be awarded on the basis of scholastic or legal career achievements, future career goals, demonstration of financial need, and leadership ability. The scholarship award may be granted to any qualified applicant in the legal field.
The candidate must:
- Be a high school senior or enrolled in a school of advanced education (including current school year) or a NALS of Michigan member.
- Have at least a B average, or if a percentile system is used, not below 90 percent.
- Be in need of financial assistance.
- Be able to enroll in the fall 2009 term. Candidates nominated in prior years who meet current qualifications are eligible for renomination.

RIT awards over $5 million in merit-based and need-based scholarships to new and continuing transfer students each year. RIT offers three merit-based scholarship programs for transfer students in addition to $5 million in need-based aid.
Trustee Scholarships*
RIT will award Trustee Scholarships valued at $7,500 and $9,000 per academic year to transfer students entering RIT in 2008-2009 who meet the following qualifications:

Are admitted to an RIT academic program as a full-time student,

Will complete an associate degree prior to enrolling at RIT,

Have a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher, as computed by RIT, to receive a $7,500 scholarship, or a cumulative GPA of 3.6 or higher, as computed by RIT, to receive a $9,000 scholarship.
Transfer Achievement Scholarships*
RIT will award Achievement Scholarships to transfer students with a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher, as computed by RIT, who have completed over 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours at previous institutions. Scholarships are valued at $6,000 per academic year for qualified candidates (may not be combined with Trustee Scholarship).
*In order to be considered for either the Trustee or Transfer Achievement Scholarship, students must apply for admission and provide all required admissions credentials by the following deadlines:
- Summer or Fall 2008 entry: April 1, 2008
- Winter 2009 entry: October 1, 2008
- Spring 2009 entry: January 15, 2009
Phi Theta Kappa Scholarships
RIT will award Phi Theta Kappa scholarships valued at $2,000 per year to every PTK member who completes an associate degree prior to enrolling at RIT. Scholarships are renewable with a cumulative GPA or 2.8 or higher. In order to qualify for the PTK scholarship, proof of membership must be submitted prior to acceptance.
Minority Transfer Scholarships
RIT will award scholarships to African-American, Hispanic, and Native American transfer students based on academic qualifications, leadership potential, and demonstrated financial need. Scholarships are valued at $3,000 per academic year for qualified candidates. Admissions applications must be complete by April 1, 2008 for consideration.
RIT hosts two Transfer Days, scheduled for Friday, January 11, 2008 and Friday, March 14, 2008. These programs are intended to provide students with the opportunity to visit RIT departments and meet with faculty, Admissions, Cooperative Education and Placement, Financial Aid, Housing, and current RIT students.

The Women's Opportunity Awards program is the organization's major service project. The Soroptimist Women's Opportunity Awards give women the resources they need to improve their education, skills, and employment prospects. Eligible applicants must be women who provide the primary financial support for their families, and who are enrolled in or have been accepted to a vocational/skills training program or an undergraduate degree program.
