• MUST have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours at Oakland Community College.

• MUST have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5.

• MUST complete the scholarship application and designate at the top the name of the scholarship for which you are applying.

• MUST be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-U.S. citizen.

• MUST attend Winter semester full-time.

• MUST be a student who has struggled to return to education related to circumstances such as domestic violence, divorce, economic hardship, lack of spousal support, and/or difficult life-changing transitions.  Please attach an explanation of your situation.

• MUST be a student who is re-entering the workforce after a period of no employment or underemployment due to family circumstances such as caring for children or aging parents.  Please attach an explanation of your situation.

• MUST agree that a representative from AAUW can contact you.

• Student MUST send a letter of thanks to the AAUW representative listed on the recipient letter within 30 days of receiving this scholarship.

• MUST complete the scholarship application and designate at the top the name of the scholarship for which you are applying.

• MUST attend Winter semester full- or part-time.

• First priority given to Oakland County residents, then to residents of Wayne and Macomb counties.

• Describe in writing (one page) your interest in concrete paving and future career plans.

• Award shall be used for tuition and fees.

• MUST submit a brief statement (no longer than one page) outlining applicant's family education history (i.e., highest grade levels achieved by parents, grandparents, and siblings).  Include names of colleges and/or universities attended, number of years completed, and degrees earned, if applicable.

• Preference will be given to those students who are first in their family to attend college.

• Award shall be used for tuition, fees, and books.

• MUST have completed a minimum of 25 credit hours at Oakland Community College that will be counted toward eligibility when the student transfers to a four-year college or university, i.e., courses currently numbered above 1510.

• MUST demonstrate scholastic achievement with a minimum grade point average of 3.25 at OCC.  This GPA must be earned in credit hours that are eligible to transfer to a four-year college or university.

• MUST complete the scholarship application and designate at the top the name of the scholarship for which you are applying.

• MUST plan to transfer to an accredited four-year college or university.

• MUST be enrolled in the Liberal Arts curriculum at the Highland Lakes campus.

This scholarship comes from someone who did not have a college education, and who worked hard for what he achieved.  At some point in the recipient's life, the donor expects the recipient to help another student in the same way.

• Preference will be given to adult students working half-time or more, with family responsibilities and no employer-provided support.  Please attach an explanation of your situation.
