Why is Private Support Needed?
About 80 percent of OCC students work full- or part-time, often in multiple jobs to make ends meet. Many are single heads of households. The College is committed to maintaining tuition increases at the rate of inflation, but the combination of tuition, fees, books and supplies can come to well over $3,000. A recent study cited by the New York Times reported that textbooks alone eat up nearly 75 percent of the cost of attending a community college.
Tuition alone does not cover the cost of higher education.
How will OCC use my gift?
Every dollar you give to OCC will go to the program or purpose you want to support. Undesignated or unrestricted gifts are also welcome and needed to allow the college to respond to opportunities and challenges that arise each year, like helping visiting students affected by Hurricane Katrina.
