You’re a foreign citizen who is 18 years old or has completed the equivalent of a US high school diploma, you have non-immigrant US immigration status, and would like to take classes at Oakland Community College (OCC); if so, read on.

If you want to study full-time at OCC and earn a degree you will likely need to have F-1 student immigration status. Currently, there are 800 F-1 students from more than 45 countries attending OCC. To assist these students OCC provides International Student Advisors (ISA) who:

• Assist students in entering the USA under F-1 status,
• Provide information on how to change status,
• Assist in helping you maintain F-1 status,
• Help you apply for work authorization (when allowed),
• Help with transfer to other schools,
• and assist with cultural issues.

If you are a non-immigrant other than F-1 in the United States and would like to study at OCC, getting admitted and registered is easy!

STEP 1: Obtain an OCC Application for Admission online or from any college admissions office. Complete the application and submit it to any OCC campus admissions office. Please bring your passport, I-94 card and visa, so that copies may be made.

STEP 2: Complete assessment testing for placement purposes.

STEP 3: Meet with an academic counselor to learn your assessment test results and plan your class schedule.

STEP 4: Register and pay for your classes. Information on specific classes with times, days, location and instructor as well as tuition and fees is available in the Schedule of Classes. Information, which describes the course content and curriculum of the college is available in the College Catalog.
