NEED ACADEMIC HELP?

Taking classes in college is different from what you are used to in high school. Professors are less likely to give you outlines of things to study or lists of information to memorize. In general you have to be more organized, take the initiative and find techniques and systems to help you get the important information out of textbooks, lectures, labs and assignments.

We’re here to help – all you have to do is ask. Want to improve your study skills in less than two minutes? Want to improve your test scores? The college provides numerous programs to help you succeed:

  • The Individualized Instruction Center or ASC. The ASC assists individual students by providing:
    • Tools for improving Study skills
    • Help in developing Reading comprehension and vocabulary
    • Techniques to improve reading speed
    • Student Success Seminars giving tips on test taking, time management, etc.

Some of the  services include:
    • Tutoring
    • Academic and career counseling
    • Language interpreters
    • Alternative testing
    • Sign language interpreters

  • The Libraries on each campus provide information resources and services to help you to successfully complete your assignments. The OCC Libraries offer:
