If you have graduated or plan to transfer to another institution you are required by federal law to have an exit loan interview before leaving Oakland Community College.  If you have questions regarding this matter, please contact the office of the Director of Financial Assistance and Scholarships at (248) 232-4347

Scholarships

• Chancellor's Scholarship
  An OCC Chancellor's Scholarship is available to at  least one graduation student at every public/private high school and every adult/alternative education center in Oakland County. The scholarship covers full tuition for the Fall and Winter Semesters. If you are interested, please contact your high school counselor for more information.
• Contributed Scholarships
  Many scholarships are awarded to OCC students thanks to contributions to the college through public and private donations. You can apply for these scholarships if your academic performance at OCC meets the scholarship's criteria.
• Michigan Merit Award Scholarship
  This exciting, new scholarship offers an award up to $2,500 to high school students graduating in 2000 or later. This scholarship could cover almost all of your tuition at OCC for two years of full-time enrollment! Exact criteria for this scholarship are still being developed. Please contact the OFAS for current information.

Tax Credits

While not really scholarships, Tax credit programs are a great way to help pay for your college education. They can decrease the amount of money you owe for taxes or increase the amount of your tax return. Exact award amounts will vary. Consult with your tax advisor regarding eligibility requirements.

• Hope Scholarship
  Technically a tax credit, the Hope Scholarship allows eligible students pursuing the first two years of postsecondary education to receive tax credits for tuition and fees.

• Lifetime Learning Tax Credit
  If you are not eligible for the Hope Scholarship or if you have already attended your first two years of postsecondary education, you may be eligible for the Lifetime Learning Tax Credit.
