Converting Document Formats

Converting from a .pdf document into MS Word or Wordpad with Adobe Acrobat 7.0*:

  • Open the .pdf in Adobe Acrobat* (available in the TLTC) for converting to .doc or .txt.
  • Under the "File" menu, select "Save As."
  • In the "File Type" section, select either "Plain Text," "Text (Accessible)," "Rich Text Format" or "Microsoft Word Document."
  • Click "Save."

Depending on the length of the document, this may take a minute or two. Once saved, the .txt version can be opened with Word Pad, while the .doc version can be opened with MS Word.

In both cases graphs and tables will not convert.

*Note: only Adobe Acrobat (NOT Acrobat Reader) can be used to convert .pdf to MS Word documents. However, Adobe Acrobat Reader can convert .pdf to .txt by using "Save as text" under the "File" menu.
