Rhonda Vincent Returns to OCC

Contemporary Bluegrass star Rhonda Vincent and her four-piece group, The Rage, will appear at Oakland Community College’s Orchard Ridge Campus in Farmington Hills, Friday, May 2.

The two-hour performance begins at 7:30 p.m. in the campus’ Smith Theatre.  Tickets are $20 and may be purchased by calling (248) 341-2270.

With the highly anticipated release of her latest album, “Good Thing Going”, Vincent again demonstrates why she has won so many accolades, including “Entertainer of the Year, 2001” from the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA), and three consecutive namings as “Female Vocalist of the Year” (2000-2003) by the IBMA.

Rhonda Vincent has always been ahead of the pack.  She presented her brand of Contemporary Bluegrass music at a time when the formats open to women restricted them to softly sung, or mournful ballads.  Vincent broke away from the others and became the only female to tackle progressive chord structures and multi-range, fast paced vocals.  Vincent’s flawless attack style of mandolin playing, and self-written new music, have led reviewers to dub her “The Mandolin Mama.”

The Orchard Ridge Campus is located at 27055 Orchard Lake Road, just south of I-696.  Ample free parking is available in nearby campus lots.
