OCC Accepting Applicants for Fall Chef Apprentice Program
Interviews
of applicants who wish to enroll this fall in the award-winning chef apprentice
program at To
schedule an interview contact Chef Kevin Enright, chief apprentice coordinator,
at (248)
522-3710. Applicants must bring a
certified check for $110 made out to the Michigan Chefs de Cuisine Association;
a handwritten essay of 150 words on “Why I Desire a Career in Culinary Arts”; a
high school diploma or equivalent; a resume; a record of documented work
experience and references; and post-high school transcripts, if applicable. Successful
applicants must also complete the college’s COMPASS English and math placement
test before being accepted into the program.
The $110 is fully refundable if the applicant is not accepted. “ Jointly
sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor, the American Culinary Federation (ACF)
and the Michigan Chefs de Cuisine Association, the OCC program has twice
received Kraft Foodservice Awards of Excellence from the ACF Educational
Institute National Apprenticeship Training Program. To
