Lawrence Tech and Oakland Community College Sign Agreement for 16 Programs

Southfield, Mich. – University leaders from Lawrence Technological University and Oakland Community College signed a unique articulation agreement today that will ease the transfer of students from one of 16 Oakland Community College associate degree programs to Lawrence Tech to earn a Bachelor of Science degree.

“Oakland Community College has long been a close partner to Lawrence Tech in helping students build their academic programs and achieve their career goals. We look forward to attracting even more students through this special agreement,” said Charles M. Chambers, Lawrence Tech president and CEO of the 5,000-student, private university. “Many of OCC’s associate degree programs dovetail nicely with Lawrence Tech’s bachelor degree programs. This new agreement details what courses and content match our programs and will help students prepare for Lawrence Tech’s rigorous curricula.”

This new partnership codifies and raises the maximum number of credits that transfer to Lawrence Tech from 60 to between 70-75.

“This agreement enhances our graduates' opportunities to continue their education at an outstanding university,” said OCC Chancellor Mary Spangler. “It also shortens their path to a baccalaureate by permitting the transfer of an unusually high number of credits – a beneficial arrangement for all involved, OCC, Lawrence Tech, and most of all, our students.”

Graduates of OCC under this agreement will receive priority consideration with other students seeking admission to the agreed upon programs.  (See the attached list of programs)
