lay



lie

verb: to put or place

EXAMPLE: Lay the coats on the couch.

verb: to recline

EXAMPLE: I’m going to lie down for a few hours.

 

lead



led

verb: present tense

EXAMPLE: The guards lead the team in points scored.

verb: past tense

EXAMPLE: Ben Wallace led the team in rebounds.

 

less



fewer

Use less with things that are not countable

EXAMPLE: I have less energy now that the holidays are over.

Use fewer with countable things

EXAMPLE: There were fewer dishes to wash after the picnic.
