911 Dispatch Academy

The 911 Dispatch Academy is an entry-level training program for dispatchers employed by public safety agencies or any individual seeking employment as a professional 911 Telecommunicator.  Upon completion of the five or six week program, graduates will receive a 911 Dispatch Academy certificate from the Oakland Police Academy.

Tuition for the Oakland Police Dispatch Academy is $1850.00 for a six week training program.  Financial Assistance is available for this program under the Michigan Works Program if you qualify, for question regarding this program please contact your local Michigan WorksAll classes have been approved for use of the MCOLES/ETSC 911 training funds.  The next session will be from September 30, 2008 through November 6, 2008.

There is an application and orientation process for this program that must be attended prior to enrollment in a training session as well as a “sit along” shift where you observe a shift at a local public safety 911 answering center with a communications specialist.

An informational orientation for the Fall 2008 Session commencing September 30, 2008, will be held on Saturday April 12, 2008  at 10:00AM and Monday June 23, 2008 at 7:00PM.Call 248-232-4220 to register for orientation
