What do I need to register using Touch*Tone?

  • A pencil or pen.
  • Your seven-digit Student Identification Number or your Social Security Number .
  • Your Personal Identification Number (PIN), which is your six character birth month, day and year.
  • The current Schedule of Classes.
  • A completed worksheet.
  • The current OCC Catalog to assist in course information and prerequisites.

How do I complete the Touch*Tone Worksheet?

  • Print the worksheet.
  • Write down the six-digit registration code for each class. (List your most important classes first.)
  • Identify alternate courses and sections (include registration codes) on the preparation sheet and determine their priority.

Do I have a Touch*Tone telephone?

  • If your phone makes a tone sound as each button or key is pressed, it can be used for Touch*Tone. Telephones that do not make a tone will not work (rotary phone, pulse dial, or push-button). 
  • To check for Touch*Tone, pick up the receiver and listen while you dial , if you hear one quick tone or beep and then nothing, you have Touch*Tone service. If you hear 8 faint clicks, you do not have Touch*Tone service.
  • Telephones that use the for redial will not work for Touch*Tone Registration.

1. Start Touch*Tone

Call:   248.341.2345
  • Press if you know your OCC Student Identification Number. Press if you wish to use your Social Security Number. The system will verify the number used.
  • Enter your Personal Identification Number (PIN). Your PIN is your six-character birth month, day and year. Please note, single digits must be preceded by a .

2. Register/Add a Class

Press

  • Enter the six-digit registration code
  • Wait for Touch*Tone to confirm your request.
  • Repeat this process for each class you wish to add to your schedule.
 Problems you may encounter while using this transaction:
  • The class you want may be full. Either select another class, or try again at a later time; someone may drop from the class.
  • If you are registering for a class in place of a cancelled class, you must first drop the cancelled class and then register for the new class. (See Drop a Class.)
  • Touch*Tone will not allow you to register for a class which has a time conflict with one of your other classes.
  • You cannot register for more than 17 credits in a 15-week semester, or 8 credits in a 8-week session without speaking to a counselor. Contact your campus counseling office.
  • Some classes have restricted entry for students who have completed certain program requirements.

Drop a Class

Press
  • Enter the six-digit registration code
  • After you have entered your request, wait for Touch*Tone to confirm your request.
  • Repeat this process for each class you wish to drop from your schedule.
  • If you are dropping all of your classes, press

  • You may be entering the wrong registration code. Follow the instructions in Review.

Cancel All Classes

Press  
  • Touch*Tone will ask you to confirm that you wish to cancel your entire registration.
  • To re-register for classes, follow the instructions in Register/Add a Class.
 Problems you may encounter while using this transaction:
  • If you do not confirm the transaction, Touch*Tone will not cancel any of your registration.

Audit a Class

  • Students wishing to audit a credit course must indicate their desire when registering.

    The status change of credit to audit or audit to credit may be conducted only during the registration or drop/add periods at the start of the semester in which the course is taken.

Students may audit a class if they wish only to attend class without receiving academic credit or a letter grade. The mark of AU will appear on the transcript for classes that were audited. In addition:

  • Audit classes are assessed regular tuition and fees.
  • Audit classes are subject to the same refund rules as regular credit hour classes.
  • Audit classes are not counted in determining a student’s enrollment status for the purposes of enrollment verification, financial aid, or in calculating GPA.
  • Audit classes do not satisfy course program or degree requirements.

3. Review

Press
  • Touch*Tone will confirm your current schedule.
 Problems you may encounter while using this transaction:
  • If you have registered in the wrong class, you must first drop the wrong class and then register for the correct class. Follow the instructions in Drop a Class.
  • A class cancelled by the college may appear on your schedule until Drop/Add has ended. If you do not plan to register for another class in place of the cancelled class, then do nothing. When Drop/Add has ended, the class will be removed, and you will receive a full refund for the cancelled class.

4. Accept Classes, Hear Balances, Pay by Credit Card

Press
  • Touch*Tone will state your balance.
  • Press to pay by credit card (Master Card, Visa, and Discover). Press to skip this option.
  • Enter the requested credit card information.
  • It is very important that you stay on the phone until Touch*Tone verifies that the credit card transaction has been processed.
 Problems you may encounter while using this transaction:

If your tuition amount is incorrect, there may be one or more problems:
  • Your residency may be incorrect. You can correct your residency at any campus Enrollment Services Office.
  • You may have registered for the wrong class or too many classes. Follow the instructions in Review.
  • You may have dropped from the wrong class. Follow the instructions in Review.

5. Exit

You may hang up at any time during the call.
