COMPANY GRANT FUNDING

Overview

Oakland Community College is an active, successful participant in the Michigan Economic Development Corporation's (MEDC) Economic Development Job Training (EDJT) Program, securing funding in past years to meet the training needs of local companies. The MEDC has awarded job training grants to ensure Michigan companies have the highly trained skilled labor force needed to compete in the global economy. As a partner with the Economic Development Job Training Program, Oakland Community College works closely with a MEDC account manager and Workforce Development specialist to develop customized quality training programs for business and industry in Oakland County.

Eligibility

MEDC grant awards are discretionary and priority will be given to companies who demonstrate at least two of the following requirements:

  • Demonstrated a need for high-skill training

  • Invest in purchase of equipment

  • Create and/or retention high-wage/high-skilled jobs

  • Training needed to compete in the following industries:

  • Advanced manufacturing or materials

  • Life Sciences

  • Technology

  • Homeland security and/or Defense

  • Alternative Energy.
