The OCC EMT Program is offered five times per year. Students must attend an orientation session, apply to the program, and successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check prior to registration. In fall and winter semesters the program runs for 15 weeks, twice a week for four hour blocks each day, followed by a two hour lab. A night section also runs for 15 weeks, meeting three evenings a week in four hour blocks. For all admissions criteria, please click here.

In the summer I semester, an EMT Academy runs for approximately six weeks, beginning just after the OCC Fire Academy ends. This program is accelerated and meets Monday through Friday from 9:00am-5:00pm, followed by approximately three weeks of clinical shifts. Required courses are listed as follows and are recommended to be taken concurrently. Students must be accepted into the program and attend an orientation prior to registration. Part time academic schedules must be approved by the Program Director.

Upon completion of the Basic EMT courses, the student will be eligible to take the national Registry exam to qualify for state licensing as a EMT-Basic.
