Summer 2014 Application Information

REGISTRATION - You must register for all classes between March 3, 2014 and May 7, 2014. Example: If you plan to take 3 credits during Summer I and 3 credits during Summer II, you must register for both by May 7, 2014. Financial Aid will be processed for Summer I and Summer II at the same time. Students who register after this date may not be eligible for financial aid.

If you have not already done so, you must complete the 2013-2014 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This document will be used to review the summer applications.

FUNDING - for 2014 Summer Semester is limited to remaining Pell Grant, TIP, ITG, Student Loans, and Work Study.

  • Pell Grant effective for the 2013-2014 academic years: You could have remaining Pell funds if you attended less than full time (12 credits) in fall 2013 and/or winter 2014. If you attended full time (12 credits) in both fall and winter you do not have remaining Pell eligibility.
  • Student Loans will not be processed until your registration for 6 credit hours can be verified. If you drop below 6 credit hours, your loan will not be processed and/or cancelled.

BOOK VOUCHER - If you qualify for a Summer I/Summer II semester book voucher you can use your electronic book voucher until May 15, 2014. Money not used in the Bookstore will be disbursed to you after the 100% refund period according to the Check Refund Disbursement Schedule.

DROPS/WITHDRAWALS - Dropping courses or completely withdrawing from the college may affect both your current financial aid award and your eligibility for future financial assistance.

  • If you register for classes during the Summer I/Summer II semester, and you drop/withdraw, once financial aid is disbursed, you will be responsible for the Summer I/Summer II charges. Your financial aid will be adjusted to show your revised enrollment level.
  • If you are not attending or have not received a financial aid award letter, you are responsible for dropping your classes. If you want to drop courses or completely withdraw from the college, you must complete the “Course Drop Request” form available in Enrollment Services, or drop courses on the OCC website.

All financial aid programs are subject to change without notice. The College has the right to revise your financial aid package if incorrectly computed. The College also reserves the right to make adjustments resulting from changes in funding or new interpretations of federal and state guidelines and regulations. If it is determined that a student fraudulently submitted incorrect data on his/her financial aid application, the situation will be referred to the U.S. Department of Education (DOE) for investigation and possible prosecution.

Guest student status at OCC - you are not eligible for financial aid. Students must be pursuing an eligible certificate
or degree program at Oakland Community College to qualify for financial aid funding.

NOTE: All Summer 2014 awards are contingent upon meeting the Satisfactory Academic Progress policy. If your financial aid status is other than OK, you cannot be awarded aid for Summer 2014 until your Winter 2014 grades have been posted and evaluated.
