Oakland Community College

Girls Matter Conference

The original Girls Matter Conference, hosted at Oakland Community College, ran for five successful, consecutive years (2000 - 2004). Many thanks to the supporters, school districts, underwriters, presenters, and participants for helping us to produce such an important program to the girls and parents in the community.

  • The Original Conference for adolescent girls ages 11-14 and their parents
  • Keynote presentation
  • Separate workshops for girls and parents
  • Topics include issues of importance to adolescent girls’ physical, emotional and mental health

The Conference was a collaboration of the OCC Womencenter, Farmington Public Schools, Birmingham Public Schools, Southfield Public Schools, West Bloomfield Community Education, Novi Community Schools, and the Waterford School District.
