Math Practice Test

Students enrolling at Oakland Community College must complete a math placement test, called COMPASS, before registering in any mathematics course. You are exempt from this test if you have earned a bachelor degree from an accredited institution or if you are a guest student.

Practice Test

To help you refresh your math skills, the College provides a practice test.  The test covers Algebra, Elementary Algebra, Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra, and Trigonometry.  The link below will take you to practice tests for each level.  You will need to create a login (quick process) to use the tests.

Tips

  • Don't worry about questions that are unfamiliar to you. Accurate placement requires finding out what you know and what you don't know.
  • Pay attention to the questions you get wrong on the practice test. If you feel you should know these answers, you may want to review these topics.
  • The practice test covers topics in roughly the following order: Algebra, Elementary Algebra, Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra, and Trigonometry.
