Fundamentals of Arithmetic

4 Credits

Equivalent to: MAT 1040 (2008-2009)

Prerequisite: COMPASS/ACT math placement test results appropriate for this course within the last two years.

This course is for students who need to learn basic arithmetic skills. No calculators will be used. Topics include operations with whole numbers, fractions, decimals, integers, exponents; square roots; order of operations; conversion between fractions, decimals and percents; solving 1-step equations. Applications include units of measurement and conversion between units in same system; proportions; averages; area and perimeter of rectangles and squares; percent problems.
