Get Involved and Boost Your Potential
Studies show that students who are engaged in extra-curricular activities have a greater opportunity for networking, career growth and leadership development. With school, work and other commitments pressing on our time, why get involved now?
OCC's student organizations provide you a stronger support system, a chance to build connections, make new friends, have some fun and the opportunity to apply what you've learned to the real world—a real selling point with prospective employers which will set you apart from others! Did we mention these are free (or mostly free) to OCC students?
Here are a few organizations to consider:
Phi Theta Kappa (PTK)
PTK is an international Honors Society that strives to recognize and encourage scholarship
among two-year college students. PTK provides opportunity for the development of leadership
and service for an intellectual climate for exchange of ideas and ideals, for lively
fellowship for scholars, and for stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence.
"Raider" Athletics
OCC athletic teams are known as the Raiders and are members of the National Junior
College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA). OCC offers numerous athletic teams such as Men's & Women's Basketball, Men's &
Women's Cross Country, Men's Golf and Women's Volleyball.
Student Ambassadors
OCC's Student Ambassador Program is a leadership training program. Students take away
extensive training, lessons in time management and networking opportunities that sometimes
lead them to career opportunities.
