OAKLAND COUNTY, Michigan — Oakland Community College will host the inauguration of Chancellor Peter M. Provenzano, Jr.. CGMA. His investiture as OCC’s ninth chancellor will take place Thursday, Sept. 27, at 5:30 p.m. during a ceremony at OCC’s Smith Theatre, Orchard Ridge campus, 27055 Orchard Lake Road in Farmington Hills.
Honoring Provenzano will be business, academic and community leaders from Oakland, Macomb and Wayne counties. Presenting from the stage will be OCC Board Chair John McCulloch, OCC Faculty Chair John Mitchell; and student speaker, and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society President, Sydney Lawson, among others. Broadcast remarks will include Governor Rick Snyder; Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson; Macomb County Deputy Executive Al Lorenzo; Walsh President Marsha Kelliher; Barton Malow Chairman Doug Maibach; and, Michigan Schools and Government Credit Union President/CEO Peter Gates.
Joining in the processional will be executives from Macomb Community College, Eastern Michigan University, Lawrence Technological University, Oakland University, Walsh College, Wayne State University, Oakland Schools, Oakland Early College as well as OCC Board of Trustees, college officers and academic deans.
The OCC Board of Trustees approved Provenzano’s appointment Jan. 1 after he served briefly as interim chancellor. The 2018 fall semester marks Provenzano’s first full academic year as chief executive officer. He joined the college in 2014 as vice chancellor of administrative services.
Before joining OCC, he served in leadership positions in Macomb County government, earning many awards and top recognitions. Provenzano began his career at Plante Moran, one of the nation’s largest accounting and business advisory firms.
