Program Outcomes

Program outcomes represent broad areas of knowledge and skills developed over the duration of the program through a wide range of courses and experiences. These learning outcomes represent what a student should be able to know, think, or do upon successful completion of their program at Oakland Community College.

  • Students will integrate learned surgical technology skill and theory with the standards expected of a health care professional. Communicate effectively in all aspects of the position of surgical technologist student, including effective communication with all staff and patient as applicable.
  • Students will integrate learned surgical technology skills with the standards expected for a health care professional and student graduate.
  • Students will successfully complete the comprehensive examination administered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTA) for the Surgical Technologist that leads to certification (CST) (ARC Requirement)
