Important update regarding 2023 Graduates!
The eligibility for MAS recipients has changed for 2024-25 based on the financial
need calculations being changed from Expected Family Contribution (EFC) to a Student
Aid Index (SAI).
The changes are a result of the FAFSA simplification for 2024-25 and the resulting
updated application and formula.
With these changes to the FAFSA, if you received the MAS award in 2023-24, you will automatically receive it for 2024-25 if you meet
all other requirements. This special consideration will not factor in SAI as a determining
factor and you will meet the financial need regardless of SAI since you received the
MAS award for 2023-24.
-
- Received is defined as:
- A student receiving payment (having attended 12 credits or more in a semester) of
Michigan Achievement Scholarship in 2023-24 (Fall 2023, Winter 2024, or Summer 2024).
All 2024 graduates will need to demonstrate financial need when they complete the
FAFSA—by having a Student Aid Index (SAI) of $30,000 or less.
