New High School Dual Enrolled Student Steps

STEP 1 - Complete online application

Start the online application. Confirmation emails will be sent when the application is received and again when processed. Please allow two (2) business days for processing. If you are a returning high school dual enrolled student, see the instructions below. High School Dual Enrolled students must re-apply each semester they wish to take classes.

Step 2 - Submit the Dual Enrollment/FERPA authorization form

High School Sponsored Students: Complete the High School Sponsored Dual Enrollment Form with a parent/guardian.

NOTE: If your high school is not listed in the form's high school drop down list, please email secondary@oaklandcc.edu so that it can be added to the list

Self-Pay Students: Complete the Self-Pay High School Dual Enrollment Form with a parent/guardian.

Once your High School Counselor (or parent/guardian for self-pay) signs the form, you will receive a copy for your records.

 Step 3 - Set up your MyOCC account

When your application is processed you will receive two separate emails - One with your OCC Student ID number along with a link to retrieve your username from Admissions and a second email from Online Services with your Temporary Password

MyOCC is where you will access your student email account, pre-registration steps, register for classes, payment information, and more.

Step 4 - New student orientation - online

You must complete New Student Orientation before you register for classes. To access orientation, log into MyOCC and select New Student Orientation under the Pre-Registration Steps card. You ONLY have to complete the New Student Orientation and a brief Student Survey at the end. While there are also many Student Lingos that are informative, they are NOT required.

Step 5 - Online Learning Readiness Course (if applicable)

The Online Learning Readiness Course is required before you can register for any online or hybrid classes. Log into MyOCC and select Online Learning Readiness Course under the Pre-Registration Steps card.

Step 6 - Course placement

ENGLISH: You MUST complete OCC’s English Placement unless you have a recent SAT score or qualify for one of the other exemptions.  ENGLISH SECOND LANGUAGE (ESL):  If English not your first language, you are REQUIRED to complete Duolingo for placement.

MATH: If you plan to register for a course that requires math prerequisites, you will need to complete the ALEKS Math Placement unless you have a recent SAT/ACT score or qualify for one of the exemptions.

Step 7 - Schedule a counseling appointment

All incoming first-time college students are now required to meet with an OCC counselor. Once you complete steps 1-5, call to schedule an in-person or virtual  appointment.

Step 8 - Register for classes via MyOCC

Log into MyOCC and select the Student Planning card. Click on the Plan your Degree & Register for Classes option to search and register for classes.

Step 9 - Buy your Books

You can order and have your books delivered from the OCC Bookstore by clicking Textbooks at the top of the page and selecting Get Your Textbooks. Enter your OCC student ID number under the Financial Aid method of payment, and select HSDE which stands for High School Dual Enrollment.

Returning High School Dual Enrolled Student Steps

STEP 1 - Log into your Admissions profile


Log into your Admissions Profile. Select ‘Create a New Application’ and complete a new application for the semester in which you plan to attend. Be sure to select the options for High School Dual Enrolled.

Most of the information from your previous application will populate. Verify the information is correct and complete any required fields marked with a red *. Submit.

NOTE: The Admissions Profile Email User Name and Password are different from the MyOCC User Name and Password that are still active and used to access your MyOCC and Student Email.

Early College (Oakland ACE, Oakland Early College & Oakland Technical Early College) Dual Enrolled Student Steps
